Below is a breakdown on how we are deciding our Star Ratings:

  • Price: We aren’t looking just at a price comparison for similar diamonds and rings, but also at what kind of range they have. Do they have some budget options, do they have some middle of the road, or only higher price points?
  • Selection: How many diamonds do they have? How many settings do they carry? Some stores do preset options, while others don’t. What is this selection like?
  • Customer Service: Here we are looking to see what their warranty covers and for how long. How do they handle repairs, resizing and shipping?
  • Quality of Jewelry: As we haven’t physically seen items from all these stores, we are basing this on quality of imagery. Do they provide real images or videos? How are their on body renderings

# 1 James Allen

Pricing: ★★★★★ (out of 5 stars)

Selection: ★★★★

Quality: ★★★★★

Customer Service: ★★★★★

  • Large selection of settings and diamonds
  • 360 view/20x magnification on diamonds
  • Lifetime warranty which includes prong work, polishing, rhodium plating and cleaning
  • 60 days for free resizing
  • Not all items have on-hand imagery

James Allen is right at the middle of the road when it comes to wedding bands. They have 5 women’s categories and 4 men’s categories. Their selection of women’s is the lowest in the bunch, with approximately 260 options ranging from $120-$22K. The men’s options are about average compared to others at 210 options from $80-$6K.

These wedding bands include classic comfort fits, eternity bands (some with designs) and stackable options. Some will have no stones, while others provide options of diamonds and gemstones. They have a pretty in depth Wedding Band Guide which has great information on all options that are available.

One of the best features of James Allen is their 360 degree view of all items. This allows you to see the ring from every angle possible. Not all retailers provide this. Some of the wedding bands have on hand imagery as well as drawings, but not all of them. The 360 degree view really makes up for that.

James Allen  also provides a lifetime warranty which includes free prong tightening, polishing, rhodium plating as well as cleaning. They allow 60 days for a free resize (only one resize). They also offer free engraving, if your selected ring is compatible. This is one of the best warranties we’ve seen.

James Allen proves to be a solid option for wedding bands. Their accurate videos and imagery is a huge plus. Their pricing and selection is very middle of the road, which is good for the average consumer. They lose one star for the lack of imagery on all items.

# 2 Zoara

Pricing: ★★★★★ (out of 5 stars)

Selection: ★★★★★

Quality: ★★★★★

Customer Service: ★★★★

  • Largest selection of options
  • Great categories including affordable
  • Great lifetime warranty
  • No videos nor imagery

Zoara boasts the largest collection of wedding bands in both women and men, out of everyone we are reviewing. They have 650 women’s options at $100-$11K and 1200 men’s options at $100-$10K. They have 8 categories for women and 5 for men, both impressive numbers.  One of the best categories they have is their Affordable Women’s. This has around 300 options for under $500. This category could be the first and only stop for many shoppers

It appears they don’t have any videos nor on body imagery, a big negative. Their lifetime warranty is one of the best, as it includes rhodium recoating, prong tightening, polishing, cleaning and manufacturing defect repairs. They allow one free resizing within 60 days, covering shipping both ways. Due to their large selection of of wedding band options and their affordable section, we give them 5 stars for pricing. Their lack of imagery loses them 1 star.

# 3 Allurez

Pricing: ★★★★★ (out of 5 stars)

Selection: ★★★★★

Quality: ★★★★

Customer Service: ★★★★★

  • 10 Categories
  • 30 day return policy
  • Free shipping
  • USA manufacturing
  • Lack of videos and imagery

Allurez boasts the most categories for both women and men, with 10 each. The women’s side has 430 options ranging from $86-$35K, while the men have 287 at $86-$5120. These numbers are pretty middle of the road compared to the others, though they have the cheapest women’s option out there.  The fact that they have 10 categories for each is pretty impressive. This allows for much easier shopping for customers. The men’s Signet Category stands out as this isn’t something that is often offered at other retailers.

IIf you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, you have 30 days to return the item. Customers will pay shipping both ways, but original purchases are free shipping. Allurez has a 1 year warranty which covers manufacturing issues, ring sizing, rhodium plating and cleaning. Allurez boasts a wide selection of designs for both women and men, a very impressive feat. This helps to make up for their lack of imagery.

# 4 Blue Nile

Pricing: ★★★★★ (out of 5 stars)

Selection: ★★★★

Quality: ★★★★

Customer Service: ★★★★

  • Large selection
  • High end options
  • 360 degree videos
  • Price match guarantee
  • 30 day return policy
  • 1 year resizing policy
  • Lifetime manufacturer’s warranty
  • Lack of categories
  • Lack of imagery for all items
  • Warranty does not cover rhodium plating nor prong work

Blue Nile has one of the largest selections of wedding bands on the list, as well as the most selection of higher end options. With 2 women’s categories, they offer 500 options at $330-$60K. The men’s only has metal categories, offering 200 items at $140-$4100. We wish they had more categories in both options, especially the mens. Having categories is a nice way to narrowing down options. We also felt that the classic, comfort fit wedding bands for women were hard to find. They do offer designer wedding bands, which many of the sites do not. Currently, you can choose from Colin Cowie, Monique Lhuillier and Truly Zac Posen.

They have a 30 day return policy as well as free shipping on all orders. The lifetime manufacturer warranty includes free ring cleaning and inspections (though you pay for the shipping there). They do not cover re-rhodium plating nor rebuilding of prongs, which others do cover. Blue Nile also is able to provide a ring sizing tool, free of charge, as well as free ring sizing for a year. They do not mention how many you can get in that year, though.

Blue Nile has a fair amount of pros as well as some cons. Their higher end options will be nice for some customers, but the lack of categories can also be annoying to some.  Customer service has their positives, especially with the ring sizing tool and 1 year option, though their lack of rhodium and rebuilding of prongs decreases them a star.

# 5 Ritani

Pricing: ★★★★ (out of 5 stars)

Selection: ★★★★

Quality: ★★★★

Customer Service: ★★★★★

  • Education Center
  • Retailer brick and mortar partners
  • 30 day return policy
  • No on-body imagery
  • No men’s categories

Ritani has one of the lower selections of wedding bands for both womens and men. They have 370 options for women ranging from $160-$50K, and 155 for men at $95-$4700. The women boast 5 categories while the men have none. This lack of men’s categories can make it difficult for searching.

They don’t seem to have any videos nor on body imagery. This can cause problems for people who are purchasing online. It is nice to be able to envision what the item might look like on someone. They make up for this slightly by having a nice Wedding Band Guide. Here, they go pretty in depth on the different styles and options for wedding bands.

Similarly to other sites, they have a 30 day return policy, but they also schedule a free FedEx pickup, which is a bonus touch. They don’t mention anything about free prong work and rhodium work, but they do offer free cleaning for a lifetime. Ritani is also unique in that they have retail partners around the country. These partners can help size you, clean and repair items for you.

Ritani’s lower selection of options for wedding bands loses them 1 star. While their imagery isn’t the best out there, their education center helps a little with this. Their partnerships with retailers helps with their customer service score, as this allows customers to talk to someone in person for help and guidance.

PHD Conclusion

Choosing a wedding band should be way easier than picking out that perfect engagement ring. Hopefully this guide will help you narrow down where you’d like to search. While there are many similarities to these sites, the differences might make or break where you go to purchase.
